About The 1595 Club
The more skill a man hath of his weapon the more gentle and curteous should he shewe himselfe, for in truth this is rightly the honour of a brave Gentleman, and so much the more is hee to bee esteemed : neither must he be a bragger, or lyer, and without truth in his word, because there is nothing more to be required of a man then to know himselfeVincentio Saviolo -- His Practice, 1595

Weekly group practices are held at the Masonic Hall of Bend, Wednesdays 5:30-7pm. We hold additional members-only practices on weekends, as well as occasional weekend seminars in Bend and Seattle.
Everyone interested in learning fencing is welcome! It’s our goal to make this activity accessible to anyone in Bend who wants to try it. Ages 14 and up are welcome. We are beginner-friendly!
Please reach out to Eric at the above contacts before showing up for your first practice.
Arrive at the Masonic Hall by 5:15pm or so and plan to stay until practice ends at 7pm. If you are late we might not able to accommodate you in the practice, because there is a waiver to sign and safety instructions to hear. You are welcome to watch though!
What to bring: Wear comfortable clothing. A water bottle is a good idea. We will tell you about gear and such when you are here. We have gear for you to borrow until you purchase your mask and other essentials.
Dues and equipment
Hopefully you can get a sense for our club and the activity at your first practice. By your second or third week you should sign up for dues payments on our website, $40/month on PayPal. You will also need to acquire a fencing mask to start participating in freeplay.
Vibe
We have to be careful with swords! We will explain our safety rules on site. No politics and we are a pg-rated/family-friendly club.
